CNC is looking for a qualified Network Administrator/IT Manager. The successful candidate will have a background in the installation, administration and extension of new web-based server applications such as enterprice audio/video and social media systems on both Windows and Unix/Linux platforms. Must have experience with Windows server operating systems, current versions of major Microsoft server applications and Windows XP, Windows 7 and Mac OSX desktop/laptop management. Also required: Experience with LAN/WAN design and administration (including Firewall, Site-Site VPN, IPSEC VPN); web technologies such as IIS, Apache, PHP, Java, SQL/mySQL; servers that provide standards services such as DNS, Active Directory, DHCP, Exchange and FTP services; and back up technologies and software. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Adobe Illustrator and Flash and Drupal content management systems also a plus. Success in this role requires excellent problem solving skills, professional behavior and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, consultants and vendors. And interest in radio, video production, and social media a plus. The right candidate will have 3-5 years experience, and a proven ability to diagnose and remedy server/network problems effectively and immediately. Capitol News Connection is looking for student interns beginning September 1, 2010 and January 1, 2011. We are looking for talented students in the fields of journalism, social media, marketing and business development. Journalism interns will research stories, cover news events and congressional hearings, record audio and video, and assist our award-winning reporters in the production of web and radio stories for CNC clients. Interns with a strong interest in social media will upload multimedia content to the new CNC website, assist in getting citizen questions for lawmakers answered, help aggregate content, take photos, shoot and edit video, tweet nonstop and help keep our Facebook pages refreshed. We also need interns to help us with marketing and publicity, as well as new business development. Internship is unpaid, and requires at least two full days per week during Congressional term, and can be used for school credit.
